He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey D. Cansler and Carmon Virtrous Cansler (Adams); his sister Neva Bullock (Cansler); and his brothers-in-law, Barton Bullock and Barrett Durham.

He is survived by: his wife Tomika Cansler (Furukawa) of Hopkinsville, KY; his sister Anna Beth Durham of Hopkinsville, KY; and his sibling's children, Randy Durham (Cheryl) of Crofton, KY, Gary Durham (Deborah) of Paige, TX, Greg Bullock of Hopkinsville, KY, Connie Pryor (Greg) of Hopkinsville, KY and Melody Gaines of Hopkinsville, KY.
