He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Quincy Townsend and Kathleen Rose Snyder Townsend; his brothers, Phillip Townsend and Bill Townsend; and his son-in-law Ralph Louden.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Gentry Townsend of Eddyville, KY; his children, Krista Boyle of Evansville, IN, Shanna Louden and David Townsend, Jr. (Christy); his brother John Townsend (Barbara); his sister-in-law Edna Townsend; and his grandchildren, Cody Grable, Christopher Logsdon, Hayley Drysdale, Jacob Townsend, Fiona Louden, Brady Louden and Quincy Louden. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
