He was predeceased by: his parents, Stephen Alphonso and Claudia McFarland Curtis; and his sister Anna Lee Ingram. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Payne Curtis; his sons, William S. Curtis (Barb) of Georgetown and Robert Earl Curtis (Amy) of Jackson, Mississippi; his grandchildren, Ashlee Curtis, Alayne Brown and Austyn Curtis; and his great grandchildren, Finick, Augustus Curtis and Ellie Elizabeth Brown.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations may be given to: Bluegrass Hospice Care, 1317 US HWY 62E, Cynthiana, Kentucky 41031.
