He was predeceased by: his parents, John Johnson, Sr. and Mary Elizebeth Johnson (Collins); his son Barry Johnson; and his siblings, John Johnson, Mary Woods and Rosa Brooks.

He is survived by: his wife Fannie Johnson; his children, Larry E. Johnson, Jr., Jerry Johnson and Edwina Wilson; and his grandchildren, Chris Johnson, Reggie Young and James Young.
