He was predeceased by: his wife Norma Jean Conley Saunders; his parents, Everett Saunders and Ada Lee Saunders; and his sister Donna Davis. He is survived by: his children, Douglas W. Saunders (Tracy) of Georgetown, Coleman B. Saunders of Georgetown, Jeannie Tracy (Lane) of Georgetown and Sissy Burus (Keith) of Georgetown; his siblings, Joyce Brewer and Skip Saunders (Joann); his grandchildren, Meghan Borough (Brad), Alex Mesalam (Whitney), Blake Burus (Taylor), Bree Sturgill (Jonathan), Brooke Saunders, Bo Saunders (Morgan), Peyton Saunders and Kaitlyn Tracy; and his great grandchildren, Willa, Lucy May, Carter, Chloe, Duncan, Rhett, Lawson, Cohen, Taliyah and Grayson.
