He was predeceased by: his parent Walter Wheat; his stepchildren, Margie Rose and Ronnie Herrell; his grandchild Abigail Lynn Wheat; and his sister Dorothy Groce Fields.
He is survived by: his parent Mary Lena Emmitt Wheat; his wife Melba Jones Wheat of Glasgow; his daughter Wanda Arms (Ronnie) of Cave City; his stepdaughter Mary Raymer (Bill) of Louisville; his sons, David L. Wheat and John W. Wheat; his stepsons, Leslie Herrell (Karen) of Sulphur, KY, William E. Herrell of Sulphur, KY and Buckley Herrell (Janet) of Sulphur, KY; and his grandchildren, Pam White (Mark), Michael Arms (Ashley), Nathan Wren, Brayden Wheat, Jaxson Wheat and William Lee Wheat (Jess). He is also survived by 8 step grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren.
