He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmo Douglas Atkins and Euple Dean Finley Atkins; his wife Loretta Dunning Atkins; and his granddaughter Caryl Atkins Henderson. He is survived by: his sons, James Steven Atkins (Helen) of Indianapolis, IN, Michael David Atkins (Kay) of Fancy Farm, KY and Kevin Ray Atkins (Karen) of Lexington, KY; his sister Shirley Forguson of Arlington, TX; and his grandchildren, Logan Atkins (Candace), Bryan Atkins (Courtney), Jonathan Atkins and Kristin Miles (Wyatt). He is also survived by ten great grandchildren.
