He was predeceased by : his parents, James Claude Joiner and Lila Lee Joiner (Hancock); his wife Helen Armstrong Joiner; his sons, James Dale Joiner and Jeffery O'Neal "J. J." Joiner; and his siblings, Raymond Joiner, Wayne Joiner, Douglas Marvin "Charlie" Joiner, Pauline Aldridge, Wanda Roberts and Clara Gillette.

He is survived by : his daughters, Pam Reed of Hopkinsville, KY and Donna Lynn Galan of Hopkinsville, KY; and his sister Sarah Irwin of Hopkinsville, KY. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
