With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of James Edward Bassett III (Lexington, Kentucky), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 23, 2025 at the age of 103. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Lucy Alexander Gay. He is survived by: his sister-in-law Anne Pinckney Gay; his sibling's children, Elizabeth Gay Freeman (George), Charlotte Gay Stites (John Clay), Anne Gay Donworth and James E. "Ted" Gay (Alyson); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Reid Freeman (Liza), Will Freeman, Woods Freeman, Harrison Stites, Stewart Stites, James Bassett Gay, Elizabeth Stites, Maggie Donworth, Lucy Donworth and Elizabeth Gay.
