He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Gillespie and Effie Lawson Gillespie; his wife Claudyne; and his siblings, Bill, Carl, Charles, Ila Mae, Wanda, Fern, Lillian, Jean and Eula.
He is survived by: his son Asa L; his grandsons, Aaron L (Charity), Aaron M (Britany) and Ryan E (Elizabeth); his great grandchildren, Ellis, Wesley, George and Declan; and his sister Ruth. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to be made to Christian Assembly Church in his memory.
