She was predeceased by: her parents, John Samuel and Mattie Brewton (Carraway); her husband James Terry Shaw; her son James Gregory; her son-in-law Charles Edwin Davies; and her siblings, Edna, Laura, Elinor, William David, Harold, Dorothy, John Samuel Jr. and Benjamin.
She is survived by: her children, Gina, Joe, Donna Shaw Martin (George), Regina Shaw Hampshire (Doss) and Joseph Edward Shaw (Barbara); her grandchildren, Paul Martin (Tracy), Sarah Martin Baltzley (Ryan), Rachel Martin Barnett (Sean), Amanda Shaw Pett (Travis) and Megan Shaw (Kris Gable); her great grandchildren, Kamille Martin, Kaleah Martin, Kayla Martin, Emily Baltzley and Flora Baltzley; and her sister-in-law Jackie Brewton. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
