He was predeceased by: his parents, Nois Cardwell and Conover Cardwell; his wife Diana Cardwell; and his pets, Oreo, Callie, Allie and Sheila.

He is survived by: his children, Theresa Deem, Scott Cardwell and Robert Cardwell; and his grandchildren, Stacy Deem Barmore (Ben), Zachary Deem, Nicholas Deem, Bobby Cardwell, Joshua Cardwell and Elizabeth Williams.

Donations can be made in David's honor to the Kentucky Humane Society.
