He was predeceased by: his parents, James Raymond Hilbert, Sr. and Anna Ruth Hilbert (Ball); and his brother Paul Hilbert. He is survived by: his children, Chris Hilbert (Allison) and Cassady DeWine (Shane); his grandchildren, Charlie and Callie; his sisters, Marietta Hilbert (Dennis Bristow), Julie Embry (Barry) and Becky Sturgeon (Jim); and his former wives, Brenda Tucker and Ramona Hilbert. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Owen Funeral Homes - Dixie Highway (5317 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40216). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the Owen Funeral Home (5317 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40216).
For those who wish to make an alternate gesture of remembrance, donations may also be made to the National Parks or the Geological Society of America—two causes that reflected Ray's lifelong interests.
