He was predeceased by: his parents, Hall Jewell and Susie Atwell; his wife Barbara Handy Jewell; his daughter Monica Jewell Jodoin; his brother Steve Jewell; and his great grandchild Bryn Nelson.
He is survived by: his daughter Vicki Jewell (Frank Binford); his grandchildren, Travis Jewell (Misty), Riley, Michagan, Amanda "Mandy" Kays, Susanne Binford (John-Michael Albrecht) and Brooke Link (Johnny); his sister-in-law Patsy Morrison of Pilot Mountain, NC; and his caregiver Sue Gunter.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Heady-Hardy Funeral Home (7710 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY 40258). The military honors will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:15 PM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of contributions, in his memory, to Ormsby Heights Baptist Church, 2120 Lower Hunters Trace, Louisville, KY 40216, his home church for over 50 years.
