He was predeceased by: his parents, Elizabeth Buckman (Johnson) and Joseph Fabian Buckman; his brother James Edward Buckman; his son-in-law Gene Cherry; and his pets, Jackson and Buddy.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Buckman (Knuckles); his children, Kelly Lynn Cherry, Joseph Kenneth Buckman and Anita Kay Buckman (Belinda); his sister Patricia Ann Abell; his grandchildren, Kelsey Juanita Kay Sego, Joseph Ryan Buckman, Nathan Kelly Knuckles and Rayna Hodge; and his great grandchild Maddox Fabian Evans.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Franciscan Kitchen.
