She was predeceased by: her father James Oliver Higdon; and her brother Freddie W. Higdon. She is survived by: her mother Virginia Smith Higdon; her husband Joseph R. Fears, III; her children, Jennifer Grace (Frank), Julie Morse and Joseph Fears, IV; and her stepdaughter Lynne Fears (David). She is also survived by six grandchildren.
