He was predeceased by : his parents, James Arthur Metts Sr. and Thelma Reddicks Metts; and his brothers, Roger, Bruce and Shannon Metts.

He is survived by : his wife Heather Whitaker Metts; his children, Grace Metts Kirk (Blake), Marshall, Waylon and Weston Metts; his siblings, Darlene Metts, Sherry Metts, Juanice Metts, Ron Metts (Linda) and Tim Metts (Terri); and his sisters-in-law, Bea Metts and Brandi Whitaker Sanders (John). He is also survived by many loving nephews and nieces and friends.
