He was predeceased by: his parents, David W. Thompson and Emma "Price" Thompson; his wife Lanelle Thompson; his daughter Nancy Soards; his grandson Brian Matthew Soards; and his siblings, Anna May Brown, Dorothy Cannady, Don and Jeff Thompson.
He is survived by: his children, Susan Barnett and John Kirk (Debbie); his grandchildren, Kristen Clan (Michael) and Brittany Stockman (Shaun); his great grandchildren, Madison Clan and Liam Clan; his pet Lottie; and his daughter Valarie Jones (Leroy). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other dear family and friends.
