It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mercedes Marie (Hanka) Thompson McKnight of Louisville, Kentucky, who passed away on June 8, 2025, at the age of 100, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Lawrence Hanka and Anna Hanka (Thein); her daughter Renee Leathers; her son-in-law David Leathers; her siblings, Eugene Hanka and Celeste Strahl; and her brother-in-law John L. Thompson.
She is survived by: her husband Walter McKnight; her daughters, Kathryn Clayton and Lynn Hafley (Gary); and her nephew McKnight. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces.
