He is survived by: his wife Anna Mae Kappes; his brother Charlie Kappes; and his children, Robert "Bob" Kappes Jr. (Cathy), Kathy Kappes McConnell (Bruce), Mary Alice Walter, Carole Amend, Elaine May (Jerry), Paula Kappes Donohue (Steve) and Debbie Kappes Stanley (Joel). He is also survived by 11 Grandchildren, and 14 Great Grandchildren.
