He was predeceased by: his daughter Leeann Vernon; his stepdaughter Sandy Rigsby; and his siblings, Eddie Vernon and Jean Duvall. He is survived by: his wife Sandie Vernon (Johnson); his daughter Louann Vernon; his stepson Marty Masters (Beth); his son-in-law David Rigsby; his grandchildren, Brandie Rigsby, Josh Rigsby, Martina Masters, Miranda Masters, Lacey Masters and Damien Hitt; and his sister Carolyn Leake. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia-American Cancer Society.
