He was predeceased by: his parents, Jesse Franklin Steenbergen and Mattye Hazel Britt Steenbergen; and his son Eric Franklin Steenbergen. He is survived by: his wife Lorena Conroy Steenbergen; his brother Micheal Steenbergen (Charlotte); his nephew Todd Steenbergen (Ann); his niece Julie Smith (Brent); his mother-in-law Patricia Conroy of Barren County; his siblings-in-law, Patrick Conroy and Dee Conroy; and also, Inga Steenbergen of Ashville, NC, Dirk (Bethany) of Lucas, KY and Gerrit (Lindsay) of Southern Pines, NC.
