He was predeceased by: his parents, Edna Shields Cowen and Cecil Cowen; and his siblings, Linda Conrad O'Reilly and Ernie Cowen. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Sutton Cowen of Madisonville; his children, Eddie Cowen of Madisonville, Chris Lisanby of Madisonville, Stephen Hancock (Edie) of Henderson, KY and Lacretia Shelton (Donald) of Terre Haute, IN; and his siblings, George Cowen of Cadiz, KY and Rose Stewart of Frankfort, KY. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
