He was predeceased by: his parents, James Marion Butler and Artie Bell Baker Cotton; his wife Patsy Sue Weir Butler; his grandson Tyler Butler; and his siblings, Alvie Forney and Fred Cotton.
He is survived by: his children, Reba Tyson (Eddie) of Mortons Gap, Tracy Kilventon (James) of Sugar Creek, MO and Jerry Butler (Susie) of Madisonville; his brothers, Larry Cotton of Madisonville and Robert Cotton (Gail) of Bowling Green, KY; and his grandchildren, Trent Butler, Jed Tyson, James Michael Butler and Emily Kilventon. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
