It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Rae Akers of McDowell, Kentucky, born in Martin, Kentucky, who passed away on October 5, 2021, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Lee Stumbo and Annie Hall Stumbo; her husband Leroy Akers; her daughter-in-law Lisa Lynn Akers; and her siblings, Charles Stumbo, Walter Stumbo, Bill Kit Stumbo, Eleanor Pack, Madeline Schmitz and Kathlene Prater.

She is survived by: her children, Gregory Lee Akers (Christie) of McDowell, Kentucky and Gerri Gail Adkins (Danny) of Lexington, Kentucky; and her grandchildren, Allison LeAnn Akers and Danny Matthew Akers. She is also survived by 3 Great Grandchildren.
