He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Pernell and Nora Hamilton Pernell; his son-in-law Adam Holbrook; and his mother-in-law Evelyn King. He is survived by: his wife Joan Cains Pernell; his daughters, Lori Christy Pernell Holbrook of Morehead and Jessica Pernell of Morehead; his grandchildren, Christopher Pernell, Katie Holbrook, Briar Butler, Kaysen Butler, Lorielle Butler and Hope Pernell; and his close friend Heather Crum. He is also survived by three brothers; four sisters; extended family; and friends.
