He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothy Williams Ellis and Lon B. Ellis; and his children-in-law, Dr. Laura Ellis and Michael Hurst. He is survived by: his children, Jackie Lynn Russell (Roger), John Jay Ellis (Debbie), Jean Marie Hurst and Dr. Jeffrey Lee Ellis; his grandchildren, Todd (Lisa), Brad "BJ" Russell, Jason (Sara), Jared Ellis (Beth), Lindsay Johnson (Laken), Adam (Giselle), Chris Thomas (Melissa), Nicholas, Matthew, Tucker, Jack Roman Ellis, Dr. Gretchen Sutton (Geoffrey) and Scott Hurst; his great grandchildren, Jacob, Holden, Breelan, Stella, Braylee, Annie, Cora, Jackson, Macy and Camila Marie; and his wife Janis Ruth Caudill Ellis.
