He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Gertrude Irene Kidd Gilbert of Morehead and Merl Hamilton Gilbert; his wife Gisele King Gilbert; his daughter Stephanie Purvis (Russell) of Salt Lick; his grandchildren, Lexan Loren Gilbert and Luke Ashton Purvis; his sister Sandra Elaine Clayton; and his pet Piper.
