He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Brooks and Georgia Hunt Sams; his granddaughter Mallory Jo Franzell; and his brother Dewayne Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Pendley Brooks of Morgantown, KY; his daughter Michelle Franzell of Morgantown, KY; his grandchildren, Joseph Wyatt Franzell of Bowling Green, KY and Kaitlyn Dallas Franzell of Morgantown, KY; and his brother Ollie Brooks of Louisville, KY. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
