He was predeceased by: his significant other Linda McDowell; and his siblings, Sue Trent, Eva Covington, Rosie Trent, Elizabeth Shepard and Winford Gaines.
He is survived by: his spouse Jody Smith Gaines; his children, Keith Gaines (Kola) of Nicholasville, Michael Harrod (Amanda) of Harrison Township, Scott Dews, Kirby Riggs, Rob Brooks, Trina Gaines Ruth of Lexington and Robin Abshear of Cynthiana; and his brother Tommy Gaines (Fanny) of Stamping Ground. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
