He was predeceased by: his wife Edith L. Mitchell; his parents, Dennis Mitchell and Mary Mitchell; and his siblings, Millie Bone, Robert Mitchell, James Mitchell and Ray Mitchell.

He is survived by: his daughter Christina Mitchell of Vine Grove, KY; his grandchildren, Whitney Alvey of Vine Grove, KY and Deron Alvey of Radcliff, KY; his stepgrandchild Johnathon Phelps of Timothy Phelps; and his siblings, Richard Mitchell, Janet Voland, Mary Rose Longley and Margaret Dexter.
