He is survived by: his wife Janie Dargavell Shanks; his children, Emery Shanks, Jr. and Tara Lee Foster (Jason); his siblings, Wayne Shanks (Tabby), Orville Shanks (Kathy), Herbert Shanks (Sheila), Lionel Shanks (Darla), Marvin Shanks (Teresa), Sharon Kay Kindred (Bill), Judy Felan (Frank), Diane Kindred, Vivian Means and Kathy Pearson; and his grandchildren, Emery Walker Shanks, Jason Keith Foster, Megan Nicole Shanks and Kaitlyn Jade Foster. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
