He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenmore Howard and Terry Hager Howard; his wife Betty Lou Henderson Howard; and his siblings, Dixie Abrams, Louisa Taylor, Estella St. John, Lucy Warmouth Harvey, Emma Garrett, Virgie Barnes, Gracie Renfro, Mildred Sowers, Chester Howard and Lewis Howard.
He is survived by: his son Samuel G. Howard of Richmond. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
