He was predeceased by : his parents, James Marion Townsell and Lucy Stewart Townsell; and his siblings, Rose Johnstone, Jack Ray Townsell (Betty) of Madisonville and Robert Marion Townsell.

He is survived by : his siblings, Mary Agnes Gipson of Graham, Velmer Garrett of Slaughters, Paul Townsell of Nortonville, Lucian Townsell (Debra) of Providence and George Townsell of Earlington. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
