He was predeceased by : his parents, Rex Adams and Martha Rowe Adams Gilbert; the mother of his children Norma Kay Cook; and his siblings, James Buford Adams and Juanita Cole.
He is survived by : his children, Terry Adams of Salyersville, Sheila Perkins (Darrell) of Salyersville, Sherry Fletcher (Danny) of Salyersville, Carol Fletcher (Ronald) of Salyersville, Sally Cole (Danny) of Salyersville and Dixie Caldwell (Richard) of Royalton Kentucky; his brother Ronnie Gilbert of Royalton; his stepbrother Junior Gilbert of Paintsville; and his sisters, Audrey Lusby of Jackson, Wanda Blodgett of Oakland, Wanda Arnett of Royalton and Barbara Salyer of Salyersville. He is also survived by twenty-six grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
