He is survived by: his wife Bettie Jane Carpenter; his children, Debbie Carpenter Bean (Larry), Jeannie Carpenter Bowden (John) and James Alfred Carpenter; and his grandchildren, Terri Leann Walker (Daniel), Kelly Renee Smith (Tim), Kristen Michelle House, Jacqueline Marie Carpenter, Joshua Caleb Carpenter, Chris Bean, Kevin Bean, Jason Bowden and Julie Bowden Burns.
