He was predeceased by: his parents, William Oscar DeSpain and Ruth Durham DeSpain; and his former wife Mary Jean Milby DeSpain. He is survived by: his wife Bernice Smith Ward DeSpain of Summersville; his son Robert; his daughter-in-law Jennifer DeSpain of Florida; his grandson Trent DeSpain of Florida; and his stepdaughter LaDonna Ward of Summersville. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Saloma Cemetery Fund, which can be made at the funeral home.
