He was predeceased by : his parents, Lafe Smith and Dorothy Kirby Smith. He is survived by : his wife Penny Smith of Warsaw; his sons, Spencer and Chris Smith; his grandchildren, Jordan and Geoffrey Smith; and his siblings, Joe Smith (Dawn) and Margaret Allen (Patrick).
