He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn Anne Byrd Alley; his parents, Arthur Robert Alley and Edna Gallemore Alley; his parents-in-law, Delos Latimore Byrd and Myrtle Brooks Byrd; and his sisters-in-law, Janice Byrd Harris and Delores Byrd Ivy.
He is survived by: his daughters, Lisa (Lynn) and John-John; his grandchildren, Christopher, Katie, Alley Claire and SaraBeth; his daughters, Alicia Alley Smith (Todd) and Lynn Alley Wheelis (Steve); his grandchildren, Stephen Christopher Wheelis (Anna), Katharine Alley Smith Baxter (Parker), Alley Claire Wheelis, Mason Connor Smith and Sara Elizabeth Wheelis; his great grandchildren, Edwin Arthur Wheelis and Helen Frances Baxter; his sibling's children, Jackie Ryland Nichols (Bill), Kayla Ivy Fenner (Keith) and Kevin D. Ivy (Leslie); and his caregivers, Renee Andrews, Brittney Jones, Ashley Augustine and Connie Smith.
