He was predeceased by: his parents, Thillman Matherne and Lucile Matherne; and his siblings, Florence Bergeron, Richard Matherne and Lee Matherne.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Matherne; his children, Denise Arnold, Jamie Findley (Charles), Jenny Verdin (Josh), Todd Matherne (Hollie), Daniel Matherne, Jr. and Jason Lirette (Crystal); and his siblings, Joyce Dean, Gayle Matherne, Bryan Matherne, Darrell Matherne and Thilman Matherne. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
