He is survived by: his wife Jeanette Brister Thompson; his children, Joy Baines (Tim) and Gene Thompson (Allison); his grandchildren, Aaron Baines, Jenn, Michael Baines (Regina) and Morgan Thompson Seay; his great grandchildren, Alaina, Alexis, Aubree, Payson, Conner, Kylee, Elijah, Brendan and Ruari; and his brothers, Tommy Thompson, Donnie Thompson and Franklin Thompson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
