He was predeceased by: his parents, Emerson "Bill" Shaffer (Bill) and Marjorie Zammit Shaffer; and his sister Phyllis Ortego (Joe). He is survived by: his wife Dawn Zimmerman Shaffer; his children, Kylie Harbin (Ian Scott) and Brett Shaffer; his grandsons, Andrew and Ethan Harbin; and his sister Janice Synstad (Dean).
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church (15160 S Harrells Ferry Rd, Baton Rouge, LA 70816). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Louisiana National Cemetery (303 W Mt Pleasant Zachary Rd, Zachary, LA 70791).
