He was predeceased by: his brother LaDarrow Lee Thorne. He is survived by: his wife Rhea Wiesler Thorne; his children, Jason Robert Thorne and Stephani Erin Thorne; and his siblings, Rex Thorne (Lanell), Michael Thorne (Debbie), Yolanda Laabs (Milton), Renee O'Kimosh (Forrest) and Robin Prey (Gary).

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate in Robert's name to Our Lady of Lake Children's Hospital or Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.
