He was predeceased by : his wife Ruby; his daughter-in-law Delisa Curtis Cox; and his sister Carley Cox. He is survived by : his child Becky; his spouse Martha Weidner Price; his children, Kevin V. Cox and Doctor Rebecca Cox Patton; his sister Alice Guinn; his great grandchildren, Emma-Claire and Ruby; and his great-grandparent Virgil Cox.

When his beloved wife was diagnosed with dementia/Alzheimer's they moved several places seeking a place where Ruby would be most comfortable.
