He was predeceased by: his parents, E. B. Smelley and Nova Dee Smelley; and his grandson Aidan Babineaux. He is survived by: his wife Laurel Lampton Smelley; his children, Jade Babineaux (Brian) and Marshall Smelley (Kathryn); his grandchildren, Hannah, Madelyn and Jace Babineaux; and his sisters, Debra Caruso (Marty) and Dianne Anderson (Les). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and his best friend, his dog.
