He is survived by : his wife Brenda Merritt of Dry Prong, Louisiana; his children, Anthony Merritt, Valencia Merritt, Forever Merritt and James Owen Merritt, Jr. (Yvonne); and his sister Geraldine Green. He is also survived by his many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
