It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jomekia Nixon-Williams (Gramercy, Louisiana), born in New Orleans, Louisiana, who passed away on May 9, 2026, at the age of 50, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her daughter Ja'Mari Hanzy; her grandson Hayden Ray; her father Wesley Nixon IV; her siblings, Cowanna Nixon, Wesley Nixon V, Carl Gauthier and Tyrone Gauthier; her grandparents, Ernest, Helen Richard Mart, Wesley Nixon Sr. and Pearl "Sadie" Nixon; and her in-laws, Catherine and Willie Williams.
She is survived by: her spouse Cindy Marie Williams; her mother Claudette Mart-Nixon; her daughters, Ontranekia Davis (Gerren), Thyatira Ray (Leroy), Cenise Nixon (Marcus), Michel'le Nixon and Ja'Nae Hanzy; her grandchildren, Jace Batiste, Joden Batiste, Bailey Favron, Amir Anderson, Anaira Ray and Gage Davis; her siblings, Demetra Nixon, Georgianna Nixon Bradley, Shawn Gauthier and Joey Gauthier; her godson Jamarion Johnson; and her friends, Cherita Johnson, Sylvia Matthews, David Pierre, Wendy Griffin and Lorie Gossrand. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Celebration Church (3400 US-51, Laplace, LA 70068). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
