He was predeceased by : his parents, Tyrel Cebastian Whiteside and Cleo Bailey Whiteside; his wife Edith Ezell Whiteside; his son Wayne O'Neal Whiteside, Jr.; and his brothers, Ken M. Whiteside, James Whiteside and Bobby Whiteside.

He is survived by : his children, Kevin Whiteside (Beth) of Dubach, LA, Michael Whiteside (Melissa) of Mayesville, SC and Jerri Lynn Whiteside of Homer, LA; and his sisters, Elaine Whiteside Hollis (Melvin) of Rock Hill and Mary Whiteside Hall (Keith) of Rock Hill. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Friday, January 15th 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel (2133 Ebenezer Rd, Rock Hill, SC 29732).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Whiteside's name to American Legion Honor Guard, PO Box CRS 2745, Rock Hill, SC, 29731.
