He was predeceased by: his parents, William Browder and Cora Velma Woods (Culpepper); and his siblings, Katie Staggs, Mary Woods, Jewel Roberts, Ester Ruth Byrd, Sara Woods, Cora "Bea" Woods, Albert Woods, Haylon Woods, Clyde Woods, Wallace Woods, Joe Woods and David Donoghue.
He is survived by: his wife Joy Woods (Warren); his children, Ramona Hatfield (Roy), Thomas Woods, James Woods, Jr. and Robert Woods; his stepsons, Randy Anderson (Patti), David Anderson and Mark Anderson (Debbie); and his grandchild Jarrett Hatfield.
