He is survived by: his wife Mona Nichols Sonnier of Abbeville; his daughter Angelique Sonnier Williams (Jeremie) of Gueydan; his stepchildren, Shalayna Stoute Cormier (Josh) of Morse, Ross Stoute (Starlyn) of New Orleans and Dalton Stoute, Jr. (Melissa) of Morse; and his brother Darin "Boo" Sonnier (Jennifer). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
